Responsibilities

The position is to maintain pricing and projection models for use with the individuals Life line of business, and provide actuarial expertise needed for quoted opportunities.  Track the experience for assumed reinsurance, work with other members of the line of business to distinguish attractive opportunities, evaluate the risk characteristics to ensure that the programs should be profitable, and research to ensure that SCOR’s pricing and modeling assumptions are contemporary.  Employ the model-projection system in order to be aware of the incidence of profit by time and duration of each, and analyze the pattern of actual claim development against that which was expected to identify problems at the earliest possible moment.  Provide reserves to corporate actuarial after reviewing client reserve information, contribute required financial input to the corporate model, complete technical actuarial and Research and Development projects as assigned, and manage ceding or reserves reporting from clients to corporate actuarial. 

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field plus 3 years of experience performing episode treatment group (ETG) and episode risk group analysis (ERG). Prior experience must include use of Perl, Focus, AXIS, and Microsoft Office. Must be licensed as an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).

To participate in actuarial studies which are necessary to the monitoring and management of portfolios, accounts, and the balance sheet of SCOR Global Life SE, and to take part in related analytical work and methodological development.

To participate in conjunction with the Central Actuarial Department in pricing for the Market Unit 1 (France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, and Asia) by working on studies and development of new personal insurance/reinsurance products.

Department

The Actuarial team of the Market Unit 1, in communication with local offices (Asia, Belgium, Spain, and Italy), coordinates pricing and the development of new reinsurance products.  It is also in charge of evaluating reserves, reviewing methods of account estimations, calculating balance sheet elements, and calculating the Embedded Value of the perimeter. 

Responsibilities

In association with the Actuary Manager MU1 you would be in charge of the following :

- Participate in calculations of Embedded-Value in collaboration with other entities of the group.
- Carry-out actuarial monitoring of our reinsurance treaties and portfolios (profit studies, follow-up and validation of technical provisions) in coordination with other teams.
- Develop the essential tools needed to establish portfolio models and their actuarial
monitoring.
- Calculate, analyze, and explain balance sheet actuarial elements of SCOR Global Life SE (provisions, intangible assets).
- Provide support to pricing teams of various markets.  Fix prices concerning non-traditional reinsurance deals in collaboration with the Central Actuarial Department.
- Participate in updating local market guidelines.

Actuary degree and/or equivalent graduate studies (specialized high level education in engineering, mathematics, finance, etc.)

Experience and Necessary Skills

You possess a minimum of 6 years of experience in the insurance/reinsurance field.  You are interested in working in an international environment and master the English language which is the preferred language for communication with our foreign entities.

Knowledge of MoSes would be beneficial

To make use of your medical expertise in the definition of the selection and pricing of risks related to insurance of persons, to their daily use by medical underwriters and their evaluation for the clients of SCOR.

The Risk Selection and Claims Department is comprised of 20 people and is in charge of:
- Ensuring the global treatment of selection and claims files sent by the cedants (insurance companies, brokers, mutual insurance companies, banks as insurers…) within short timeframes,
- Organizing the setting-up of products with regard to selections, relations and circuits with cedants, and monitoring the application,
- Co-ordinating and technical assistance at the MU1 level.

The quality and rapidity of the answers given to clients is instrumental in giving a commercial advantage to the Market Unit 1 of SCOR Global Life.

Under the responsibility of the manager of the Risk Selection and Claims Department and in close collaboration with the different departments of SCOR Global Life (Commercial, R&D…etc.), your responsibilities will be the following:

- Evaluate the risks (death, invalidity, dependence,…) essentially for the medically complex cases, concerning future assured who take out an insurance policy, in relation to a declared pathology,
- Hold an advisory role internally for the Department pricing analysts and externally vis-a-vis our clients,
- Participate in product studies: development of medical information and technical documents, in order to participate in the dissemination of our savoir-faire in France and abroad,

The Senior Underwriter contributes to the Underwriting and Market activities within the team Cologne II (Nordic Markets/Europe).

DEPARTMENT:

Cologne II is the Marketing and Underwriting Unit responsible for the Nordic Countries within SCOR GLOBAL P&C. The main focus of the team is to further strengthen our position in this market area to develop ourselves into a leading reinsurer and to develop and propose our reinsurance solutions and services to the markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES / MAIN JOB DUTIES:

Marketing/Underwriting
• Support stabilisation and expansion of business development in defined target markets
• Analysis of market potential in target areas and emanating product and service requirements as basis for the development of action plans per client and per country
• Ensure profitability within the given guidelines and achievement of goals
• Preparation of Cologne II Plan and Renewal Report on a yearly basis and secure proper follow up – in coordination with CUO and rest of team

SKILLS / PROFILE :

Within our subsidiary SCOR Reinsurance based in Singapore, an assignment as a Volunteer in International Enterprises is to be provided for 12 months from December 1st, 2009 to November 30th, 2009, renewable for another year.

MISSION

Under the responsibility of the manager of P&C Actuarial Pricing in Singapore, the candidate will be in charge of the methods and accumulations follow-up concerning natural catastrophes in Asia-Pacific region, and will price reinsurance contracts underwritten in the Singapore hub, including treaties as well as facultatives (large corporate risks).

He/She will in addition be involved in the evaluation of the risks and the pricing of non-life businesses by explaining and arguing the technical options to the underwriters, and will be the contact in Asia-Pacific region for the global monitoring of Scor’s exposures worldwide.

DEPARTEMENT

Risk modelling & Global Natural Hazards unit is one of the central transverse function of Global P&C. It provides consistent natural catastrophe risk analyzes and pricing support through state-of-the-art modelling platforms and systems. The unit delivers timely and reliable data for SCOR Global P&C to effectively manage its risk exposures and accumulations.

RESPONSABILITIES

Cat Modeller/Actuary :

Cat Modelling and Pricing
Ensure consistency and cat risk assessment best practices through exposure and pricing analyses.

This includes:
• Analyzes of cat exposure with tools provided
• Continuously validate and calibrate cat models in use (test and document new model versions).
• Provide timely and reliable information to all stakeholders.

Accumulation control and management:
• Monitor and report cat aggregates
• Assist in best use of cat capacity within authorized limits
• Regular review of cat portfolio, providing portfolios figures and per account contributions.
• Participate in group accumulations

Underwriting support:
• Support underwriters (U/W)  in all cat related issues
• Communicate, present and explain to U/W our cat modelling and pricing approach

Training
Training will be done on-the-job, in Paris.

The tasks within the Group Financial Planning & Analysis department range from preparatory work to analysis and presentation to senior management. Furthermore, you analyse quarterly financial statements, performance measurement and variance analysis and you contribute to the definition and implementation of a quarterly analytical and reporting package as well as of key performance indicators and methods of performance measurement.

You are a business economics or finance student preferably with a focus on investment controlling and you already have some relevant work experience. You have excellent organisational and IT-user skills (MS Office) and the ability to communicate fluently in both German and English.
