SCOR Global Life has been nominated for “Best Global Life Reinsurer‿ award by the readers of Reactions, a leading global reinsurance industry magazine. The awards ceremony took place on 24 September 2009 at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York, in the presence of Norbert Pyhel and Mike Pado, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of SCOR Global Life and CEO of SCOR Global Life Americas respectively. SCOR Global Life invited several major clients to the ceremony.

This award is part of the "Reactions Global Awards", a prestigious event that has been running for the past eight years to reward performance and innovation in the insurance industry.
 
Norbert Pyhel commented: "This recognition clearly demonstrates SCOR Global Life’s new status as an industry leader, and reflects its recent expansion. It also reflects the positioning and commercial dynamism of SCOR Global Life on the global market, as well as its reputation amongst its clients".

SCOR Global Life has been pursuing a policy of business expansion for several years. In December 2008, SCOR obtained a Life reinsurance Retakaful licence, which enabled the entity to reinforce its client base on the Takaful market. In June 2008, SCOR was admitted to the Brazilian Life reinsurance market and in July 2008, the Group acquired Prévoyance Ré. SCOR opened in June 2009 a Life subsidiary in South Africa. Finally in July 2009, SCOR Global Life US, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SCOR group, acquired XL Re Life America Inc. (XLRLA), a subsidiary of XL Capital Ltd.
