Energetic and progressive bilingual individual looking to develop or build on a career in reinsurance underwriting. This position will be based in Toronto and involves travel to visit with clients in Canada and on occasion for internal reasons, internationally. Reporting to the Head of Treaty, the Treaty Underwriter will learn from colleagues all aspects of property and casualty treaty underwriting for Canadian insurers, and become responsible for a portfolio of business. The ideal candidate will have a financial background and be comfortable with elements of financial analysis.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Underwriting
o Evaluate renewal and new business treaty reinsurance programs.
 Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions
 Evaluate and negotiate contract wording
 Evaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuaries
 Perform underwriting audits at current and potential clients

• Marketing
o Market SCOR products to insurance companies and reinsurance brokers to obtain suitable business.
o Organize and manage client events.

• Account Management
o Responsibility to maintain all documentation for assigned accounts as per SCOR guidelines.
o Refer all issues as required by SCOR guidelines

• Reporting
o Inform SCOR Underwriting Management and SCOR Canada management as required of activities, client and portfolio results

Required experience and Education

• A minimum of 5 years of (re)insurance experience
• Financial education or experience
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Solid communication skills
• CIP or other insurance studies preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
