NEW CASUALTY APPOINTMENTS AT SCOR GLOBAL P&C
SCOR is pleased to announce the following key appointments within the P&C Business Unit, effective July 1st, 2020, to further support our clients’ Global and US Casualty portfolios.
Bill Kaplan has been appointed as Global Casualty Chief Underwriting Officer. Reporting directly to the CEO of Reinsurance, Michel Blanc, and in coordination with Regional CUOs across the globe, Bill will develop the strategic priorities and risk appetites for all Casualty lines. With a global approach, Bill will help drive the Casualty underwriting plan creation and execution. This new Chief Underwriting Officer role will work in conjunction with transverse functions across SCOR, P&C Partners, and Alternative Solutions to coordinate and expand our Casualty solutions for our valued clients and brokers. Bill will remain based in Chicago as he assumes this worldwide responsibility, bringing his expertise and experience to the SCOR Casualty teams worldwide.
Maura Haynes has been appointed as US Team Leader for Casualty and Professional Liability Lines. In her new role, Maura will continue to report to Nick Nudo, Chief Underwriting Officer of US Treaty. Maura’s responsibilities will be expanded to encompass all Casualty Lines including Professional Liability. In addition to the management of this portfolio, with a team of eleven underwriters Maura will also take a lead role in the direction and execution of the US Casualty underwriting plan.
To further strengthen the team’s commitment to US Casualty for our valued clients and brokers, Steve Strauss has been appointed as US Deputy Team Leader for Casualty and Vanessa Contreras has been appointed as US Deputy Team Leader for Professional Liability.
Bill Kaplan, a US citizen, joined SCOR in April 2014. He has over 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, with a particular focus on professional liability. Prior to SCOR, Bill was a Director within Professional Liability Treaty at Protective Re. He also held various management and underwriting positions at Aon and CNA Re. Bill graduated with a B.B.A in Finance from the Tippie School of Business at the University of Iowa and also achieved an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago.
Maura Haynes, a US citizen, joined SCOR in 2016 and was promoted to US GL Team Leader in 2019. She has over 15 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. Prior to SCOR, Maura worked at Swiss Re in various underwriting capacities. Maura graduated from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She has also achieved an MBA from Northwood University.
