My Favorite SCOR Memory: Moments That Made an Impact
October 8, 2026
Across SCOR's global network, every employee carries memories that go beyond projects, meetings, and daily responsibilities. These are the moments that bring people together, create lasting connections, and remind us what makes SCOR such a unique place to work.
Following a call for stories on Viva Engage, colleagues from various offices and functions shared some of their favorite SCOR memories. From cultural celebrations and volunteering initiatives to major transformation projects and unexpected first-day experiences, these stories highlight the experiences that leave a lasting impression.
When Cultures Come Together
For Nazneen Bilimoria in India, one memory stands out above all others: the opening of SCOR's branch office in Mumbai in April 2017.
The event was already a milestone, but it became even more memorable thanks to a special musical performance. Renowned Indian singer Usha Uthup joined the celebration, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for attendees.
What made the occasion truly unique was seeing former SCOR P&C CEO Victor Peignet sing alongside Usha in French, creating a moment that beautifully blended two cultures.
"Watching French and Indian cultures come together through music was both inspiring and heartwarming."
For Nazneen, the event perfectly reflected SCOR's international spirit and demonstrated how shared experiences can connect people across borders and backgrounds.
A Project Powered by Collaboration
A favorite SCOR memory for Ghada Bouaziz in Paris comes from a system revamp project in 2024.
The initiative brought together teams from IT, Business, and Operations across multiple SCOR hubs, all working toward a common objective: transforming the way exposure data is captured, analyzed, and reported.
While the project's successful delivery was rewarding, what made the strongest impression was the collaboration that made it possible.
"Whenever we faced challenges, people came together with openness, creativity, and a genuine willingness to help each other find solutions."
A particular highlight was a team gathering in Zurich that featured the famous Marshmallow Challenge, where teams competed to build the tallest freestanding structure using spaghetti, tape, string, and a marshmallow.
The activity was fun, but it also reflected SCOR values that helped drive the project's success: collaboration, courage, care, integrity, and open-mindedness.
“Looking back, the experience was about so much more than implementing a new system. It showed what can happen when people from different backgrounds unite around a shared goal.”
Learning Through Giving Back
Over his ten years at SCOR, Mayank Tandon in the Mumbai office has accumulated many great memories, but one experience in particular stands out: a Corporate Social Responsibility activity with the National Association for the Blind (NAB).
The initiative gave employees an opportunity to better understand the challenges faced by visually impaired individuals, while spending meaningful time with members of the NAB community.
What left the greatest impression on Mayank was not the challenges faced by the NAB members, but the resilience, determination, and positivity with which they approached everyday life.
"It was a humbling experience that taught me valuable lessons about gratitude, perseverance, and the power of a positive mindset."
The experience left a deep imprint and is a reminder of the importance of empathy, perspective, and community engagement.
An Unforgettable Introduction to SCOR
Sometimes the memories that stay with us the longest happen when we least expect them.
For Anthony Burpitt in London, one of his favorite SCOR memories dates back to the very start of his career with the company.
Having joined SCOR during the summer of 2012, he arrived just as London was hosting the Olympic Games. On only his second day at work, he received an unexpected instruction:
"Tomorrow, come to the office dressed up as a British icon."
At first, Anthony wondered whether someone was playing a joke on the new recruit. Fortunately, the request turned out to be entirely genuine, with the whole team disguising themselves as famous British figures to celebrate the Olympics. Anthony duly arrived at work the next day bearing a remarkable resemblance to the comedian Ali G.
The experience offered a memorable welcome to SCOR and immediately revealed the company's ability to combine professionalism with a sense of fun and community.
The Moments That Stay With Us
Although these memories are very different, they share a common theme. Each one reflects the people, relationships, and experiences that make SCOR more than just a workplace.
Whether it's celebrating cultural diversity, giving back to communities, collaborating across functions, or simply sharing a lighthearted moment with colleagues, these experiences help shape our collective story.
They remind us that some of our most meaningful professional memories are not always tied to business results alone. Instead, they come from the connections we build, the values we live, and the moments we share together.
And as these stories show, those moments can stay with us for years to come.
