SCOR Global Life announces the following promotions within the Global Markets teams:

 

  • Miguel Alferieff is promoted to Executive Head of Client Relationships, Global Markets. Miguel will be in charge of developing the SCOR Global Life client strategy and managing key clients across the world.
  • Roy Chappell is promoted to Executive Head of Proposition, Global Markets. Roy will be in charge of ensuring a compelling value proposition for clients together with the market leaders.

Miguel and Roy will report to David O’Brien, Deputy of the Global Market and Head of Clients Strategy & Solutions.

  • Michael Colannino is promoted to EVP, U.S. Markets, Growth and Development. Michael will be responsible for developing new business in the U.S. Market and providing innovative solutions to clients in this important market.
  • Brock Robbins is promoted to Head of U.S. In-force and Deputy CEO North-America. Brock will be in charge of the large U.S. In-force book.
  • Tammy Kapeller is promoted EVP, U.S. Process Optimization.  Tammy will be in charge of optimizing internal processes for our North American operations.

Tammy, Brock and Michael will continue to report to JC Brueckner, CEO of North America.

  • Pilar Santamaria is promoted to Head of Western Europe & Latin America. Pilar will be responsible for France, Benelux, Iberia, Italy, North Africa and Latin America.
  • Damien Bartlett is promoted to Head of U.K., Ireland & South Africa. Damien will be responsible for the U.K., Ireland and South Africa.
  • Michael Breuer is promoted to Head of Central Europe and Nordics. Michael will be responsible for Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Eastern Europe, Netherlands, Nordics, Middle-East, and Israel.

Pilar, Damien, Michael will report to Brona Magee, Deputy CEO of SCOR Global Life and Head of Global Markets.

  • Don Rho is promoted to Head of North Asia. Don will be responsible for South Korea and Japan.
  • Tony Ho is promoted to Head of South Asia. Tony will be responsible for South East Asia, India, Taiwan, and Hong-Kong and will retain his responsibility as Managing Director of the Financial Solutions product line across Asia Pacific.

Don and Tony will continue to report to Craig Ford, CEO of Asia Pacific.

SCOR Global Life also announces the following promotions within the Finance and R&D teams:

 

  • Redmond Murphy is promoted to Head of Business Performance, SGL. Redmond will be responsible for all finance, actuarial, pricing and risk activity across SCOR Global Life. He will be also responsible for management of SCOR’s operation in Ireland. Redmond will report to Paolo De Martin, CEO of SCOR Global Life.
  • Colm Guiry is promoted to Chief Financial Officer. In the Life division Colm will report to Paolo De Martin, CEO of SCOR Global Life and Redmond Murphy, Head of Business Performance. Colm will also report to Mark Kociancic, CFO of SCOR Group.
  • Stephen Devine is promoted to CEO of SGLRI. He will report to Redmond Murphy, Head of Business Performance SGL.
  • Vincent Lepez is promoted to Deputy Chief Knowledge Officer. He will report to Bruno Latourrette, Chief Knowledge Officer.

Biographies

 

Miguel Alferieff, a Spanish Citizen, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University CEU San Pablo of Madrid, MBA from CHEA ENASS and MBA from IESE Business School. Miguel started his career at SCOR Global Life in 1992 and has held various market and business responsibilities. After leading the Life reinsurance activities for Iberia from 2007 to 2011, he became SCOR Global Life Head of Southern Europe and Middle East in 2011, and Deputy CEO of EMEA region (Europe, Middle East & Africa) in 2014. In 2017 he was appointed CEO of EMEA and became responsible for all Life & Health Reinsurance Solutions in the region. He is now promoted Executive Head of Client Relationships for SCOR Global Life - Global Markets.

 

Damien Bartlett, a British Citizen, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London. In 2002 he joined Gerling Global Life Re in London which was acquired by SCOR in 2007 and he became Head of Business Development for the U.K. and Irish markets in 2011. Damien relocated to Johannesburg, South Africa in 2016 to take the position of Deputy Managing Director of the life business for an 18 months secondment. In March 2018, Damien relocated to London and took up the role of Deputy CEO for the U.K. and Irish markets. He is a fellow of the institute of actuaries.

 

Michael Breuer, a German citizen, holds a Master’s degree in business and Economics from Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Germany. He is also a certified Insurance Sales Representative. Michael started his career in 1992 at a German mutual composite insurer as controller. He joined Converium in 2000 as Head of Controlling. Following the acquisition of Converium by SCOR in 2007, Michael became Global Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and then Chief Financial Officer of SCOR Switzerland in 2008. In 2011, he was appointed Deputy Chief Financial Officer of SCOR Global Life before taking over the leadership of the Scor Global Life Finance team in 2013. He has been appointed Head of Central Europe and Nordics in 2019.

 

Michael Colannino, an American citizen, began his career with the company (formerly Transamerica Reinsurance) in 1995, working in Product Consulting & Development, International and U.S. life reinsurance. Michael has played a key role in the success of SCOR Global Life’s business and in maintaining the company’s leadership position in the life reinsurance market. Before joining the company, he worked as a consultant for Tillinghast. Recently, he was responsible for SCOR's business strategy in the Americas as well as the growth and operations for business in the Latin American markets. He is now Head of U.S. Markets, Growth and Development. Michael graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics.

 

Roy Chappell, a British citizen, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Sussex. Roy started his career at Colonial Mutual as a Life Product and Marketing Manager. He joined SCOR in 2000 as Business Development Manager for the U.K. and Irish markets and became CEO of the SCOR Global Life U.K. branch in 2010, before becoming Head of Northern Europe and South Africa in 2014. In 2017, he became Deputy CEO of EMEA for SCOR Global Life. Based in London, Roy has now been promoted as Executive Head of Proposition for SCOR Global Life Global Markets.

 

Stephen Devine, an Irish citizen, has 31 years' experience in life (re)insurance and joined SCOR in 2011 through the Transamerica Re acquisition.  Most recently, he has served as Chief Reserving & Valuation Actuary for SCOR Global Life. He is now promoted to CEO of SCOR Global Life Ireland.

 

Colm Guiry, an Irish citizen, holds a Bachelor of Actuarial and Financial Studies degree from University College Dublin and has been a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland since 2003.  From 1999 to 2017, Colm worked for Willis Towers Watson as a consulting actuary specializing in capital management and financial reporting.  Colm joined SCOR in January 2018 as the CFO of SCOR Global Life Reinsurance Ireland based in Dublin. Colm is now promoted CFO of SCOR Global Life.

 

Tony Ho is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (U.S.). Tony has been in charge of the development and management of SCOR’s Financial Solutions product line in Asia- Pacific. Tony is now promoted to Managing Director, Financial Solutions Asia-Pacific and Head of South Asia for SCOR Global Life.  Tony brings with him a wealth of experience developed 20 years in the (re)insurance, research and consulting industries. He joined SCOR Global Life in Hong Kong in March 2015 for Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining SCOR, Tony was the Head of Insurance for Asia-Pacific at Moody’s Analytics and the Chief Marketing Officer for Hong Kong & Southeast Asia at RGA.  Tony holds a Bachelor and Master degree in Mathematics.

 

Vincent Lepez, a French citizen, holds a PhD in Mathematical Statistics and Agrégation in Mathematics. He is a fully qualified member of the French Institute of Actuaries. Vincent joined SCOR in 2012 and has been the Global Chief Pricing Actuary for SCOR Global Life since December 2014. In 2017, Vincent became Deputy CEO Asia Pacific for SCOR Global Life. Vincent is now Deputy Chief Knowledge Officer at SCOR Global Life.

 

Redmond Murphy is promoted to Head of Business Performance, SCOR Global Life and will oversee all finance, actuarial, risk and pricing activity for the Life division. He will also be responsible for the management of SCOR’s operation in Ireland. He will report to Paolo De Martin, CEO SCOR Global Life. Redmond, an Irish citizen, is a qualified actuary and CFA charterholder with considerable experience in the insurance and reinsurance markets. He has a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the University College Cork, Ireland and an MSc in Applied Statistics from the University of Oxford. Redmond joined SCOR in 2014 as the CFO of SCOR Global Life Reinsurance Ireland and subsequently took a role as Chief Pricing Actuary for SCOR Global Life. In 2018, Redmond became CEO of SCOR Global Life Reinsurance Ireland.

 

David O’Brien, an Irish citizen, started his career at Irish Life as an actuary. He subsequently worked for a global reinsurer in South Africa and was quickly promoted to head their life and health reinsurance business in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. In 2002, David joined Transamerica Reinsurance in the U.S., becoming Chief Pricing Actuary in 2006. After a two-year period with a Wall Street investment bank as SVP, Insurance Products, David joined Transamerica Reinsurance’s international division in 2008 as SVP, Business Development. In 2010, he moved to Asia to lead Transamerica Reinsurance’s Asia-Pacific business. Following the acquisition by SCOR of Transamerica Reinsurance, David assumed responsibility for SCOR Global Life’s Asia-Pacific business between 2013 and 2015. In 2015, he became Head of Financial Solutions and Longevity and was recently promoted to Deputy Head of Global Markets and Head of Client Relationships. David is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (U.K.) and of the Society of Actuaries (U.S.).

 

Don Rho, a Korean Citizen, joined SCOR (from Transamerica) as Regional Deputy Director in 2012. He had previously worked at Samsung Life. He is a frequent speaker at Korean life insurance industry meetings and has been designated as a manuscript editor for the Korean version of FLMI materials. He holds an MBA from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology as well as a diploma in insurance management from Georgia State University. He was named head of SCOR Global Life in Korea in 2014 and is now promoted Head of North Asia, heading Korean and Japanese markets.

 

Brock Robbins, a Canadian citizen, holds an Actuarial Science degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Brock joined SCOR in 2011 with the acquisition of Transamerica Reinsurance and took the role of Chief Pricing Officer - Americas at SCOR Global Life. In 2015 Brock was promoted to EVP Head of U.S. Markets and in 2017 was promoted to Deputy CEO of the Americas. He is now Head of U.S. In-force and Deputy CEO of North America for SCOR Global Life. Brock is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. 

 

Pilar Santamaria a Spanish citizen, holds an Executive MBA by IESE, has a Bachelor of Actuarial and Financial Studies and a degree in Business Management and Administration, both by Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE). Pilar started her career as pricing actuary in Gerling in 2000 and later as Marketing Actuary in the Spanish branch of Revios, which was acquired by SCOR in 2006. She became Technical and Marketing Manager for the Spanish & Portuguese markets. In 2012 she was promoted to Head of Iberia, responsible for all Life & Health Reinsurance Solutions in the Spanish & Portuguese markets. In 2017, she became Head of Central, Southern, Eastern Europe and Middle East. She is now Head of Western Europe and Latin America. Based in Madrid, Pilar will be responsible for the Life & Health Reinsurance Solutions in the region. Pilar is a fully qualified member of the Spanish Institute of Actuaries and has collaborated as speaker in several market forums or imparting training classes on insurance with several prestigious institutions in the market such as FEF, the Spanish and Catalan Actuarial Institutes, INESE or Fundación Edad y Vida.

 

Tammy Kapeller, an American citizen, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in actuarial science and has her MBA from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.Tammy has more than 30 years in the life insurance industry, working in both the direct and reinsurance segments, including product development, experience reporting, sales, marketing, process improvement and operations. Recently she was responsible for the development and growth of the business within the US markets, including Individual Life reinsurance, Group Life & Health and Velogica. She has been promoted Head of North America Process Optimization.
