Roberto Castellini
Head of L&H Data Science
Roberto Castellini is Lead L&H Data Science at SCOR, where he oversees data science initiatives for the Life & Health business. In this role, he defines standards and methodologies while driving the development and deployment of data-driven solutions. He also leads Generative AI initiatives across the L&H scope, driving projects that span both internal transformation and external innovation with partners.
Roberto began his career working with several startups across diverse sectors, including environmental solutions and IoT. He later transitioned into the insurance industry by joining Shift Technology, a fast-growing startup specializing in AI for insurance. As a Machine Learning Engineer, he contributed to the development of cutting-edge products, helping insurers leverage artificial intelligence to improve decision-making and operational efficiency. In 2020, Roberto joined SCOR, bringing his expertise in machine learning and product development into the reinsurance space. Since then, he has been instrumental in expanding the use of data science within the organization, particularly by promoting the adoption of advanced analytics and Generative AI to address complex business challenges.
Roberto’s academic background reflects a strong foundation in quantitative disciplines. He holds a PhD in Mathematics and graduated from the University of Bologna, where he was awarded a scholarship from the prestigious Collegio Superiore. During his studies, he also spent time at Université Paris 7 as an exchange student, studying mathematics as part of an international program.
