In the evolving landscape of reinsurance, the role of data science has become increasingly pivotal. Data science allows reinsurers to analyze vast amounts of data from various sources, leading to more accurate risk assessment as well as innovative (re)insurance products and services that benefit consumers and businesses alike. This new discipline encompasses various specializations, from data analysis to data visualization and modeling, making it a multifaceted profession.

Fostering a sense of community and continuous professional growth among employees is crucial. Recognizing this need, SCOR launched the Young Professionals Network in 2021to provide young employees with opportunities for networking, social connection, professional development, and career growth.

But seriously, I’m a different person than I was 30 years ago. I guess if you don’t learn something over the next three decades, you’re doing something wrong.

SCOR recognizes the importance of fostering a sense of belonging and promoting a diverse and inclusive environment for its employees. To support this, the SCOR Inclusion Global Network, SIGN+, was launched in 2017 to align all existing local DEI initiatives. This global employee-led network, provides opportunities for employees to champion diversity and inclusion and collectively learn about the significance of DEI and its impact on their professional wellbeing.

Actuaries play a crucial role in (re)insurance, with a high demand for their expertise. Yet this role is often little understood and only a relatively small number of individuals get certified in this field.

At 31 years old, Nancy Hu is proud to say she has just as many stamps in her passport as trips around the sun. A Chinese citizen and passionate traveler, she believes that her love of learning about other cultures, her willingness to step outside her comfort zone, and her desire to discover other ways of thinking have taught her important lessons that have helped her succeed in her career at SCOR.
